The book Shattering Glass raises many problems faced in today’s society, wealth, violence, and many more. We cant allow things like this to plague our country until it tears us apart. Our hearts must come together and patch the wounds of our world
When people think of the United States they think of freedom, compassion, and a country built on virtue and righteousness. But the dark truth is that the beautiful place we call home faces problems so devastating its impacting countries all over the world.
Wealth, when you hear the word you picture big houses, nice cars, and fancy name brand clothes. But is that what it really is? Money is sometimes called “the root of all evil” because of what its done to our country. The truth is that wealth and money have corrupted us, making us greedy and doing acts only to acquire more money or material possessions. Money is giving our youth “big head” to put it bluntly. They go to school everyday and flash the fact that they have more money than the average person. Its become almost a requirement in the U.S. that you have money to be accepted in to a clique. This raises another problem, bullying.
The lower class citizen or the “average joe” are constantly pushed around and treated like there nothing. Its an ever growing problem in schools, kids being beat up, hurt, and some even killed, due to the violence we are exposed to. Some people blame music, video games, books, or TV. But is that really who’s to blame? Or are we just trying to hide the facts that were really the ones to blame.

You are right money and wealth do cause many problems, and it does corrupt people. Let us not forget the few people that use their wealth to help others though. Not everyone is instantly corrupted when they acquire wealth, even though most are.
I think society is at fault. It creates the problem then places the blame on something else. Unfortunately, the problems will not go away until people first realize the real source, and that could take a very long time.
I agree what you said is very true but, I also agree with Carol when she stated that not all people that have a fortune are stuck up. One of the greatest examples of people who arnt bigheaded over the fact that they have some money is Bill Gates, he has gave so much money to charaties and so on, but very good job on your first post, may the next one be just as good.
Michael, I get where your coming from. I know that a lot of people are stuck up because of their money, but not everyone. Take my friend Carisa for example. She has more money than I do, but she doesn't rub it in my face. In fact, she doesn't even mention it. We're equals. All in all, however, I love your blog. I would say it's probably tied for first out of all the other blogs, in my opinion.
It is true wealth has corrupted our country. Money can be the most evil thing on this planet. However, it is an undeniable fact that money can do the most good for the world. For example, Bill Gates, the wealthiest man in the United States, only keeps a fraction of his income for himself. The rest he gives to charity. If wealth does not corrupt then it is used to help others.
That's deep.
